Second Annual No Budget Film Festival. August 25th in Los Angeles

Red Elevator Productions was thrilled to co-produce (alongside Rent Food Broke and Showbiz Media) cARTel: Collaborative Arts LA's Second Annual No Budget Film Festival. The event took place on Thursday, August 25th at the beautiful Downtown Independent, 8:30pm-1am, complete with screening and reception. The evening showcased 15 of the over 50 submissions, which only had to adhere to two rules: clock in at under eight minutes and spend absolutely no money. The panel of judges included writer of Thor and X-Men First Class, the filmmakers behind Sundance/SXSW hit Bellflower, the co-creators and writers of Cheers, the DP who lensed The Guild, top indie film and television producers, and more. The slate of prizes is just as impressive, including $1400 worth of production software, a fully produced film premiere and a publicity photo shoot, to name a few. For more information, head to cARTel's website and be sure to check out our write up on Film School Rejects. Photos from the event can be found here and info on how the evening went is available from Brownies and Lemeonade and here.

This short film is being produced in collaboration with David Ehrlich, Sarah Kohl, Ashlea Hartz & Brillhart/Gonzales Productions and was shot in Spring 2010. Official project website here. A look behind the scenes here. Won a Best of Fest at the Hells Kitchen Film Festival and will be screening November 1st as a part of the Big Apple Film Festival.

In Bed. A glance at what happens when two rivals find themselves in bed together...professionally or otherwise.

New York Noir. A throwback to the radio plays of the 1930s and 40s.

Red L member & writer/director, Brendan M Leonard adapts the short stories compiled in Manhattan Noir into a series of old fashioned radio plays. With only the aid of a script, a mic, a music stand and some basic editing software, Red Elevator attempts to take you to another time and place, that we hope leaves you feeling just a tiny bit sexier when all is said and done. Ryder's Reel. I'm not a ______ [insert dysfunction here] but I play one on the internet.

Ryder’s Reel was the brainchild of Red L company members Adriana DeGirolami, Tricia Olds, Laura Ramadei and Josh Rowe, and was distributed by Red Elevator Productions in 2008.  Ryder’s Reel was a short-lived but vibrant experiment in what could be done with the nascent world of the web. The premise? Charlie Ryder, NYU film grad about to hit his quarter-life crisis, follows his 8 best friends around in an attempt to capture something truthful. The reality? Hours of story & character building for its creators, long-form improv for its actors, "voyeurism" for its audience.  Alas, not all good things are meant to last, and Ryder’s is no longer in production. To check out its seven exciting episodes, head to Ryder's YouTube site.  At some point in the future, the final three episodes will appear and give you some closure to the fabulous, frenetic, fractured lives of Ramona, Bea, Kyle, Maxwell, Tom, Trevor, Freddie & Gia.

Star Power: Guitar Hero Rocks the Apple

On November 14, 2007, Red Octane met its match with Red Elevator Productions, the one-of-a-kind multimedia production company recently formed by the five lovely people pictured below. Red Octane and Red Elevator combined to sponsor STAR POWER, the first official Guitar Hero competition New York City has ever seen. And oh, what a night it was…
