<p>It's playing in Program H, screening Wednesday September 7th at 3pm and again Saturday Sepetmber 10th at 1pm at the Producers' Club Theaters, 358 West 44 St.</p>

<p style="text-align: left; font-size: 100%;">On Thursday night, August 25th at the Downtown Independent, 15 films  made for absolutely no money screened at the Second Annual No Budget  Film Festival, thrown by cARTel: Collaborative Arts LA, in conjunction  with Rent Food Broke, Showbiz Media and Red Elevator Productions. The  sold out event brought together 250 filmmakers and lovers of film to  celebrate what can happen when artists stop allowing money to dictate  when, where and how they can create.<br /><br />After the films screened,  each audience member voted for their two favorite films, then headed  downstairs to hear live music from The Black Noise or upstairs to the  roof for free gourmet sandwiches and a specially created take on a party  mix from Whim Kitchen, as cARTel staff members tallied up the votes and  the judges huddled up in a room for a secret deliberation to determine  their pick.<br /><br />An hour after the screening ended, the entire crowd gathered downstairs for the winner&rsquo;s ceremony.<br /><br />The <strong>Audience Choice</strong> went to Jesse Johnson, for her documentary <em>Bare Feet</em>.<br /><br />The <strong>Critic&rsquo;s Choice </strong>went to comedy, <em>The Bellybutton</em>, directed and produced by Steven Wilson<br /><br /><strong>Honorable Mentions</strong> went to<br /><em>Til Death Do Us Part</em>, musical, Directed by Nanca Miyata/Produced by Teaser Tuesday<br /><em>Captain Hook: Vampire Hunter</em>, animation, Directed and Produced by David Kantrowitz<br /><em>The Drop</em>, music video, Directed by Nik Kazoura/ Produced by The Kloons<br /><br />The  critics panel featured an enthusiastic and eclectic group of behind the  scenes creatives, including <em>Bellflower</em>&rsquo;s Evan Glodell and Vincent  Grashaw (who brought along Medusa!), writer/producer Ashley Edward  Miller (<em>Thor, Fringe</em>), producer Brian Udovich (<em>The Key Man, The  Wackness</em>), producer/director Joe LaMattina (<em>Last Call with Carson Daly</em>),  producer/writer Bill Steinkellner (<em>Cheers</em>), director/producer West  McDowell (2011 Gold Medal Narrative at the 38th Annual Student Academy  Awards), Cinematographer John Schmidt (<em>The Guild</em>), and film critic, Kate  Erbland (Film School Rejects).<br /><br />Photos from the red carpet can be found <a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/serum114photography/sets/72157627524974616/">here</a><br /><br />Photos from the event itself can be found <a href="http://www.facebook.com/CartelCollaborativeArtsLA">here</a></p>

Inspired by the&nbsp;vibrant Downtown Las Vegas subculture&nbsp;of   eccentric   artists, musicians, and entrepreneurs, he discovered his   passion to   produce motion pictures as an undergrad at the University of   Las   Vegas, Nevada. In 2004, as a freshman at UNLV, he was diagnosed with     cancer and underwent numerous surgeries and treatments of     chemotherapy.&nbsp;West&nbsp;won   the CineVegas Emerging Filmmaker Award in   recognition of his producing   achievements and was cured of cancer   during the summer of 2005. After   graduating in 2008, he was accepted   into the American Film Institute   where he earned an MFA in Producing   and was the recipient of the Jack   Oakie Scholarship.&nbsp;West&rsquo;s   graduate   thesis film was awarded the Gold Medal for Narrative at the   38th   Student Academy Awards, and was also recognized as 1st Place Drama   at   the College Television Awards.</p>

She is now slinging words about cinema for <a href="http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/author/kate_erbland">Film   School Rejects</a> and MSN Movies' The Hitlist and anyone else who will have   her.&nbsp;She   has covered a number of festivals over the years, including   Sundance,   SXSW, LAFF, AFI Fest, and Outfest. <p>Proposals will have its film festival premiere at the first ever <a href="http://newyorkhellskitchenfilmfestival.com/">Hell's Kitchen Film Festival</a>. Info on the festival below.</p>

<p>The inaugural <strong>New York Hell&rsquo;s Kitchen Film Festival (NYHKFF),</strong> which will run from September 1 to 11 at the <strong>Producers&rsquo; Club Indiehouse</strong> theaters, will be &ldquo;an all-digital festival founded to revitalize and   bring attention to New York&rsquo;s Hell&rsquo;s Kitchen as a community of artists   and film enthusiasts,&rdquo; stated <strong><em>Ernest Tollja</em></strong>, one of the partners of the <strong>Producers&rsquo; Club</strong>.   &ldquo;The festival will provide a fresh, edgy New York audience and an   intimate setting for independent filmmakers whose voices may still be   new, undiscovered or unheralded&hellip;&hellip;works that may have fallen through the   cracks, are waiting to break through, or demand further attention.&rdquo;</p>
<p>The Festival will open with the New York premiere of <strong>KEVIN</strong>, the non-fiction debut of acclaimed indie director <strong><em>Jay Duplass</em></strong> (co-director with his brother of <strong>CYRUS</strong> and the upcoming <strong>JEFF WHO LIVES AT HOME</strong>).</p>
